YEAR 11 HOMEWORK : Friday 15th December

DEADLINE : FRIDAY 12th JANUARY 2018
TASK 1: Act on all post-its attached to work in sketchbook. Then, sign and date post-its and put in polypocket at back of sketchbook.
TASK 2 / PART 1: Ensure ALL work relating to Architecture / Close-Up / Out of Place is presented SECURELY in sketchbook with appropriate annotation in preparation for moderation.
TASK 2 / PART 2: Ensure all work relating to Architecture / Close-Up / Out of Place shows clear development towards the personal response / final piece completed during 10 Hour mock exam. There should be clear links with Artist/s you chose to study. This should be shown through observation studies and annotation.
TASK 2 / PART 3: Complete an Evaluation and present in sketchbook.
TASK 2 / PART 4: Label sketchbook/s with name, student number and Component 1 as it appears on green exam card.
TASK 3: Over Christmas break, photograph anything which interests you. We can make links with whatever you photograph with one of the 7 exam questions which will be shared with you on Friday 12th January - we will begin COMPONENT 2: EXAM on this date!

YEAR 11 EXAM ARRANGEMENTS

Mock exams are taking place on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th December.

What needs to be done beforehand???

  • All observation studies, photographs and resources must be finished and bluetacked into sketchbook (DEADLINE: 11W Monday 4th December / 11Y Wednesday 6th December). You will not be allowed to take your sketchbooks home after your lesson as THEY MUST be in school for the exam. Anything left at home on the 7th CANNOT be brought in for the 8th!!!!
  • Final composition can be drawn out onto chosen surface for personal response (Line drawing only!)
Exam arrangements : Thursday 7th December / Friday 8th December
  • Register at 8:30 then go straight to D1/D2. Toilet stop en route please.
  • Set up materials needed for exam.
  • Phone switched off and in bag. Bag in Design office. Coats/ blazers on pegs.
  • Exam begins at 8:45am
  • Exam stops at 10:45am. Short break, back in room at 10:58, exam restarts at 11am.
  • Exams stops at 12:30pm for lunch. Wash brushes but leave everything else out.You are on first sitting.
  • Return to D1/D2 for 1:10pm. Exam starts at 1:15pm.
  • Exam finishes at 2:45pm. Clean up equipment.
Leave everything out overnight on Thursday. Tidy everything away Friday.

You are allowed a water bottle providing there is no labelling and bottle is clear. 
You are allowed chewing gum.
You will be working in exam conditions.

DEADLINE for completion of Component 1 is Friday 12th January. Component 1 is being moderated by ES on Thursday 18th / Friday 19th January. This is non-negotiable.
DEADLINE for ordering sketchbooks for Component 2 is Friday 8th December. Component 2:Exam will start w/c 8th January.

EXAM dates are Thursday 19th April and Friday 20th April.

Task: Ensure Artist Analysis 1 and 2 are complete and presented in sketchbook. These will be assessed after half-term where you will be marked for Assessment Objective 1 using Assessment Criteria.(Marked out of 24).

We will then have 4 weeks to produce observational studies and compositional planning which will be developed into Assessment Objective 4 (personal response) which will take place in your 10 Hour mock on Thursday 7th December and Friday 8th December.

In the last 2 weeks of term we will present all remaining work in sketchbooks. (You will not be allowed to work on your personal response).

Component 1 sketchbooks will be handed in for moderation on Friday 12th January, 2018. YOU WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THESE AFTER THIS DATE, MARKS GIVEN ARE FINAL!!

Task 2: IF you have started a personal response (AO4), complete it. No bigger than A3 and presented in your sketchbook.

Task 3: Read Mock exam paper ( do not lose your paper copy!!!), you will need it next term. Choose one starting point to develop as a project next term. Look at powerpoint for examples of artists which relate to each question/ starting point.

Task 4: Once you have chosen your starting point, complete Task 1 on slide 3 of powerpoint.

10Y Deadline :Thursday 25th May

Task 2 :Print a photo (primary source) you have taken on your chosen theme. Image must be at least A5 in size and different to what you have printed so far. This image will be used for your mock exam on Thursday 15th June. If you need to "Airdrop" an image to Mrs Strudwick, this must be done Wednesday 24th May at LUNCHTIME. There will be no "Airdrop" available in lesson time.

There will be no homework set over half-term as you will need to revise for other Mock Exams.

Sketchbooks will be handed in for formal assessment on Tuesday 6th June.

Task:

Produce an observational study of an image by your chosen artist ( named on plan of action / mindmap). Think carefully about the image and artist you choose as you will be developing an observational study in the style of this artist week commencing Monday 24th April.
  1. Pick artist / image relevant to what you are studying (chosen theme ie animals, human form etc)
  2. Print image in colour, @ A6 in size. Print 3-5 thumbnail images of other examples of this artists work.
  3. Produce an observational study, no larger than A4, using media (materials) relevant to your chosen image/artist.

Task : Continue presenting your experimentation with materials and printing techniques.

  • Present Collage work (xmas homework). Include title: "Collage", photo and annotation.(Refer to page 6 of student handbook)
  • Present Collagraph work and Monoprint work. Title: "Printing Techniques. Include collagraph block with most accurate print/s. Explain how block was made and printing process. Include annotation ( refer to page 6 of student handbook). What has been successful? What could have been improved/ adapted/ refined? ie, quantity of ink, scale of work etc
Use an A3 sheet of tracing paper to protect work. Collect from your teacher.

APRONS!!!!

For the next few weeks we are exploring and experimenting with printing techniques and are going to get messy.



Please bring an apron or an old top which will go over your school uniform to lessons for the next 5 weeks.

Homework 10Y : Tuesday 10th and 17th January.


Sketchbooks have been marked and targets set accordingly. Well done to those students who have worked hard to keep up with the pace we are working at and acted on all targets set so far.

URGENT!!!!
All students need to document the websites they are using on their Artist Analysis pages. (Record websites used on Analysis pages). Avoid using Wikipedia. This is a requirement of AQA (Exam Board).
